Description

Fresh Apple Salsa is a delicious combination of sweet and tart apples, spicy jalapeños, fresh cilantro, and lime juice. This versatile salsa works well as a topping for chicken or pork or as a dip with tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 red apple (Honeycrisp, Gala, Pink Lady or any variety), finely chopped
  • 1 green apple (Granny Smith), finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 large jalapeño, minced (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 3 Tablespoons lime juice
  • 12 Tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped apples, onion, jalapeño (if using), and cilantro.
  2. Add the fresh lime juice, honey, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  3. Mix all ingredients well to combine.
  4. Serve immediately or store the homemade apple salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Notes

  • You can add cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, or celery to your apple fruit salsa for more variety.
  • Substitute green onion for the red onion if you prefer.
  • Use any variety of sweet or tart apples for this easy apple salsa recipe.
  • Substitute agave or maple syrup for the honey for a different sweetness.
  • Omit the jalapeños or add less for a milder apple salsa, or add more for spicy apple salsa.
  • Use basil, thyme, parsley, or mint instead of cilantro for a different herb flavor.
  • Substitute lemon juice for the lime juice if needed.
  • This apple relish is excellent with Pan Fried Chicken, Baked Salmon, Blackened Salmon, Honey Orange Pulled Pork, Open Face Ham & Cheese Melts, and Air Fryer Chicken Tenders.
