Description

Deliciously fluffy and spiced cinnamon buns, beautifully braided and perfect for a cozy treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup (1 + 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups (550g) bread flour
  • 1 tbsp (10g) instant dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk in a saucepan over low heat until lukewarm (about 110°F).
  2. Cream together 3/4 cup softened butter, granulated sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and warmed milk, mixing until well-combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate bread flour and yeast until a soft dough forms.
  5. Allow the dough to rise in a greased bowl, covered, in a warm area for about 1 hour.
  6. Punch down dough, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (1/4-inch thick), and spread 1/2 cup softened butter on top.
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over the buttered dough.
  8. Fold dough in half lengthwise, cut into strips, and twist them together into braids.
  9. Place braided buns on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) while buns rise.
  11. Brush tops with beaten egg and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
