Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 4 egg yolks, ½ cup of granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until smooth.
- Slowly whisk in 2 cups of whole milk to the egg mixture until well combined.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously for about 5 to 8 minutes until the custard thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in ⅓ cup of fresh lemon juice, the zest of 2 lemons, and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter.
- Pour the custard into serving dishes and cover with plastic wrap to chill for at least 2 hours.
- Serve and garnish with whipped cream, lemon slices, or mint leaves.
