Description

This Caramel Apple Dump Cake is a simple, comforting fall dessert. It requires minimal effort, just dumping ingredients into a pan and baking. The result is a warm, gooey apple base topped with a buttery, crisp cake crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (21-ounce) apple pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice mix
  • 1 ½ sticks cold unsalted butter, sliced into 24 pats
  • ½ cup roughly chopped walnuts
  • Caramel sauce, for topping
  • Vanilla ice cream, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the two cans of apple pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the apple pie filling.
  4. Sprinkle the apple pie spice mix over the dry cake mix.
  5. Arrange the sliced butter pats evenly over the top of the cake mix, ensuring the entire surface is covered.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the dish from the oven, sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the top.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let the cake cool slightly before serving warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • Use the yellow cake mix directly from the box without adding any eggs or oil.
  • Avoid stirring the layers to maintain a gooey bottom and a crispy top.
  • Add the caramel sauce just before serving to prevent the cake from becoming too soft.
  • The cake is ready when the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  • Leftovers can be stored in a covered container at room temperature for 1-2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
