- 1 cup dried cranberries (or raisins/cherries as replacements)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (chilled)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour as a substitute)
- 1 cup rolled oats (quick or old-fashioned)
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 cup pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare an 8×8 inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, combine chilled unsalted butter, flour, brown sugar, and rolled oats until crumbly. Stir in cheddar cheese and pecans.
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, lemon zest, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and dried cranberries until evenly coated.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over it.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
