Ingredients

  • 15 oz Tomato Sauce (Use marinara or tomato pasta sauce)
  • Salt (To taste)
  • Coarsely Ground Black Pepper (To taste)
  • Red Pepper Flakes (Optional for heat)
  • 8 oz Rigatoni (Can substitute with penne, monitor cooking times)
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth (Can use vegetable broth for vegetarian version)
  • 5 oz Fresh Spinach (Can substitute with kale)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add 15 ounces of crumbled Italian sausage to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in 4 minced garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning; cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add 8 ounces of uncooked rigatoni, 1 cup of chicken broth, 1 cup of heavy cream, and 15 ounces of tomato sauce; stir well.
  5. Bring to a gentle boil; reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Fold in 5 ounces of fresh spinach and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Season with salt, coarsely ground black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes to taste.
