Description

Crispy Buttered Ranch Chicken is a simple and flavorful weeknight meal. Tender chicken breasts are coated in a seasoned breadcrumb and ranch mixture, then baked with melted butter until golden and crispy. This dish is a family favorite, offering a satisfying crunch and juicy interior with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ cup buttermilk or ranch dressing
  • 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness if needed. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. In a shallow dish, pour the buttermilk or ranch dressing.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the seasoned breadcrumbs, ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Dip each chicken breast into the buttermilk or ranch dressing, coating evenly. Then press into the breadcrumb mixture until well coated.
  6. Place the coated chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  7. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of each chicken breast.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the crust is golden and crispy. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  9. For extra crispiness, you can broil for the last 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  10. Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Using ranch dressing instead of buttermilk provides a creamier, tangier flavor and helps the coating adhere better.
  • For added crunch, mix crushed cornflakes or panko breadcrumbs with the seasoned breadcrumbs.
  • This recipe can also be made with chicken thighs or tenders; adjust cooking times based on thickness.
  • Leftovers reheat best in the oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
