Crispy, golden-brown tofu cutlets that are deliciously satisfying and perfect for any meal.
Ingredients

- ½ cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup (65g) panko
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 block (16 oz.) extra-firm tofu
- Vegetable or canola oil for frying
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Freeze the whole block of tofu overnight, then defrost and drain it.
- Press the tofu for at least 20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and salt with water to make a batter.
- In another bowl, mix panko with salt, paprika, and black pepper.
- Slice the pressed tofu into four equal pieces.
- Coat each tofu piece in the flour mixture, then in the panko mixture, and place on a wire rack.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu cutlets for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or alongside a meal.
Notes
- Tofu can be pressed with a heavy object if a tofu press is not available.
- Adjust seasoning according to your taste.
