  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (60g)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened (113g)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150g)
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar (50g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (150g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (2.5g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (1.5g)
  • 1 cup rolled oats (90g)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (85g)
  • 1/4 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces (43g)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter chips (43g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the flour and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until well combined.
  8. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  9. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  10. Stir in the rolled oats, chocolate chips, candy-coated chocolate pieces, and peanut butter chips.
  11. Drop spoonfuls of the monster cookie dough over the brownie batter, covering as much of the surface as possible.
  12. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownie layer comes out with moist crumbs.
  13. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the brownie batter for best results.
