- 1 box Devil’s Food cake mix
- 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sour cream or buttermilk
- ¾ cup brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 3 tablespoons milk
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the Devil’s Food cake mix and instant chocolate pudding mix.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, sour cream (or buttermilk), and cooled coffee.
- Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and gently stir until just combined.
- Fold in the Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack.
- For the ganache, melt the salted butter in a small saucepan, then whisk in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
- Once the cake is cool, pour the ganache over the top and spread evenly.
- Slice and serve immediately for an exquisite treat.
