Ingredients

  • 1 box Devil’s Food cake mix
  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sour cream or buttermilk
  • ¾ cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the Devil’s Food cake mix and instant chocolate pudding mix.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, sour cream (or buttermilk), and cooled coffee.
  4. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and gently stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack.
  8. For the ganache, melt the salted butter in a small saucepan, then whisk in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  9. Once the cake is cool, pour the ganache over the top and spread evenly.
  10. Slice and serve immediately for an exquisite treat.
