Description

These homemade Parmesan bread bites are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, infused with garlic butter and a cheesy parmesan crust. They are a quick and delicious appetizer perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 batch Homemade Pizza Dough (store-bought is acceptable)
  • 23 cloves Garlic, fresh minced
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, high-quality
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated (Pecorino Romano can be substituted)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Mix flour, yeast, and warm water to form a smooth dough. Knead for 8-10 minutes until elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Make the garlic butter: Melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add 2-3 minced garlic cloves, stirring for about 2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Shape the bites: Punch down the risen dough to release air. On a floured surface, divide the dough into small pieces, about 1-inch in size, and roll each into a ball. Dip each ball into the garlic butter, ensuring good coating.
  4. Add Parmesan: Generously sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over each buttered dough ball, pressing lightly to help it stick.
  5. Bake the bites: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the coated dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, about an inch apart. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve warm: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. These parmesan cheese bread bites are best enjoyed warm, optionally with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Allow dough to rise in a warm, draft-free area for optimal fluffiness.
  • Monitor baking towards the end to prevent overbaking and ensure crispiness.
  • Coat dough balls thoroughly in garlic butter for maximum flavor infusion.
  • Experiment with different cheeses like mozzarella or asiago for flavor variations.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a low oven to maintain crispiness.
