- 1 cup chocolate chunks, plus more for topping

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and light brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Stir in the canned pumpkin puree until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and pumpkin pie spices.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks, reserving some for the topping.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle reserved chocolate chunks on top.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use pure canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie mix.
- Lining the pan with parchment paper makes for easy removal.
- For best results, do not overbake.
