Description
Perfectly sweet, moist Apple Crumb Cake made with fresh apples, ground cinnamon, and a delicious brown sugar pecan topping.

- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter (softened)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup buttermilk (OR sour milk)
- 2 cups apples (peeled & chopped)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup pecans (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the cinnamon and vanilla extract and mix well.
- To the creamed butter, add the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
- Stir in the apples.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Combine the topping ingredients and sprinkle evenly over the top.
- Bake at 350°F for 40-50 minutes, until toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
