Description
Baked Mashed Potatoes: Creamy Comfort for Any Occasion
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium Sweet Potatoes (peeled and cut into chunks)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (or butter as a substitute)
- 2 cloves Garlic (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Pepper (or nutmeg for an alternative)
- 1/4 cup Milk or Cream (optional, use plant-based for vegan)
- 1 teaspoon Rosemary (optional, thyme can be used as an alternative)
- 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup (optional for sweetness)
- 2 tablespoons Chopped Fresh Herbs (like parsley or chives for garnish)
Instructions
- Begin by peeling your sweet potatoes and cutting them into uniform chunks, about 1-2 inches. Place the chopped sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover them with water.
- Set the pot on the stove over high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil. Once boiling, reduce to medium and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
- Carefully drain the sweet potatoes in a colander, allowing excess water to evaporate. Return potatoes to the pot and mash until smooth.
- Gradually pour in the olive oil and mix it into the mashed sweet potatoes. Add garlic, salt, and pepper according to taste.
- Drizzle in milk or cream slowly until the desired texture is achieved, stirring continuously until creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary. Garnish with chopped herbs before serving.
