Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (Can substitute with gluten-free flour)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (Acts as a leavening agent)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (Enhances flavor)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (Softened for easy blending)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (Can use applesauce as a substitute)
  • 2 large eggs (Use at room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Can substitute with almond extract)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (Can replace with milk and vinegar mix)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (Key for the cinnamon swirl)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (Creates the irresistible swirl)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (Adds sweetness to the swirl)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (Essential flavor component)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat 1/2 cup softened butter and 3/4 cup sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add in 2 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, and then mix in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture and 1/2 cup buttermilk to the butter mixture, alternating between the two.
  6. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for the swirl.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture, then top with remaining batter and swirl with the rest of the mixture.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
