Description

This Drippy Chocolate Cake is a visual and flavorful delight for any occasion, making it a must-try for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour (Sifted for lighter texture.)
  • 1.5 cups Granulated Sugar (Brown sugar can be used for added flavor.)
  • 0.75 cups Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (Opt for Dutch-processed.)
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking Powder (Ensure freshness for maximum lift.)
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt (Balances sweetness.)
  • 3 large Eggs (Room temperature for easier mixing.)
  • 1 cup Whole Milk (Can substitute with plant-based milk.)
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted Butter (Softened at room temperature.)
  • 8 ounces Dark Chocolate (High-quality for best results.)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream (Coconut cream is a dairy-free alternative.)
  • 0.25 cups White Corn Syrup (Keeps the glaze glossy.)
  • 1 pinch Sea Salt (Adjust based on chocolate’s saltiness.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Whisk together sifted flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Combine eggs, milk, and softened butter in another bowl. Pour wet ingredients into dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
  3. Divide batter evenly between two greased 9-inch round cake pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool them in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine chopped dark chocolate, heavy cream, and corn syrup. Stir until melted and smooth. Cool ganache for 10-20 minutes.
  5. Once cakes are cool, level the tops with a serrated knife. Stack layers on a plate with frosting in between.
  6. Test the ganache consistency by drizzling it on the cake edge. Adjust temperature if necessary.
  7. Drizzle ganache along the outer edge of the cake to create drips. Pour more ganache on top and spread it evenly.
  8. Tap the base of the cake to settle the ganache and inspect for any air bubbles. Allow the cake to set before slicing.
