Description

Delicious and chewy homemade everything bagels with a crispy exterior and an explosion of flavor from everything bagel seasoning.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ⅔ cups bread flour
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 ⅔ cups warm water
  • 1 egg white + 1 tablespoon water (for wash)
  • 3 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  1. Combine bread flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, instant yeast, and kosher salt in a stand mixer bowl.
  2. Gradually add warm water and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 3-4 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 60-90 minutes until doubled in size.
  5. Divide risen dough into 10 pieces and shape into bagels.
  6. Let bagels rest for 20 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 425°F and prepare baking sheets lined with parchment.
  8. Bring 2 quarts of water mixed with 2 tablespoons of sugar to a boil.
  9. Boil bagels for 45-60 seconds on each side.
  10. Prepare egg wash by whisking egg white with 1 tablespoon of water.
  11. Brush boiled bagels with egg wash and sprinkle with everything seasoning.
  12. Bake for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Cool before slicing and serving.
