- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar, stirring until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- If using, stir in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top evenly.
- Bake for about 25–30 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely in the pan before lifting out and slicing into squares.
