Description

Enjoy guilt-free indulgence with these Healthy Air Fryer Churro Bites. They are light, crispy, and coated in cinnamon sugar, offering a healthier alternative to traditional fried churros.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water
  • 1/4 cup (57g) unsalted butter alternative
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons (24g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter alternative, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat and quickly add the flour. Stir vigorously until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Let the dough cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and egg to the dough. Mix well until fully incorporated and the dough is smooth.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Pipe small churro bites (about 1-inch long) onto the air fryer basket, leaving space between each bite.
  6. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. While the churro bites are air frying, prepare the coating by mixing together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
  8. Once the churro bites are done, immediately toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, lightly spray the churro bites with cooking spray before air frying.
  • Consider using a sugar alternative like stevia or monk fruit for a lower-sugar option.
  • You can add nutmeg, cardamom, or ginger to the cinnamon-sugar mixture for a different flavor profile.
