Description

This Italian Crescent Roll Sandwich Bake is a warm, cheesy, and savory dish that transforms deli meats and cheese into a golden-baked masterpiece. It’s an easy way to enjoy Italian sub flavors in a comforting casserole format, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 200g sliced ham
  • 150g sliced salami
  • 100g sliced pepperoni
  • 200g sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, drained and sliced
  • 2 tbsp banana pepper rings (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Unroll one can of crescent dough and press it into the bottom of the dish, sealing seams to create a flat layer for your Italian crescent roll sandwich.
  3. Layer the ham, salami, and pepperoni evenly over the dough. Add the provolone cheese slices, followed by the roasted red peppers and banana pepper rings if using.
  4. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the filling.
  5. Gently unroll the second can of crescent dough and place it on top of the filling to form the top layer of your Italian crescent roll sandwich bake.
  6. Press the edges to seal and pinch any seams closed to prevent leaks during baking.
  7. Brush the top layer of dough with the beaten egg for a golden finish, then sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let the Italian crescent roll sandwich bake rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Customize the filling with other deli meats like turkey or add sautéed onions or spinach.
  • For a spicier version, include hot cherry peppers or crushed red pepper flakes.
  • This bake is best served warm but can be made ahead and reheated in the oven.
  • Pairs well with a side salad or marinara sauce for dipping.
